Social Media Policy

   

1. This outlines the expectations and requirements for social media use and MWF Affiliation in Social Media.  The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safe and positive environment within a Social Media Setting or what would contribute to a Social Media Setting.  This would apply to all members.

2. For this Policy, the following definitions will be referenced:

- Members are defined as individuals listed on the approved membership Application, being in good standing with the Association.  These persons include parents, guardians and the player.

- Media would be defined as any form of picture, video, audio or form of text platform.

- Social Media Platform is defined as web-based and mobile-based Internet Application that allows the creation, access and exchange of user-generated content.

3. Members are not to capture media that is profane, offensive and would put the member or Association into disrepute or have it posted on any Social Media Platform.

4. There will be no media taken or disseminated from any locker room during a MWF event or involving a MWF team in an away locker room.

a. An exception to this will be that a Locker Room Monitor may supervise the use of a device inside a locker room for the purpose of playing music. This will be left to the discretion of the Head Coach of the team.

b. An exception to this will be at game end.  If a team uses a “player of the game”, they may take a picture of the player upon award.  However, the player shall have no more than their helmet, skates and gloves removed.

5. Members may not capture Media and post it on a Social Media Platform outside of an MWF event that either:

a. Displays an association to MWF in a negative or offensive manner,

b. Maliciously targets, causes harassment, or bullies another member for a future MWF event.

6. As per the Hockey Nova Scoita Social Media Policy, When a complaint is filed that may be in violation of HNS social media policy, a Minor Hockey Association, Female Hockey Association, female regional executive or league may deal with any matter and where possible.

It is the position of Metro West Force that any violations of paragraphs 3 through 5 are subject to review and/or discipline as decided by the Executive.  This does not replace or override any other Policy or Rule of Metro West Force or Governing Body.
