Season League Structure

**** Update Sept 6th ****

Good day All,

We wanted to send out what the proposed structure will be for the 22-23 season. Right now, in consultation with the 7 Associations and Hockey Nova Scotia the proposed levels will be:

U18AA, U18A, Rec/C
U15AAA, U15AA, U15A, Rec/C
U13AAA, U13AA, U13A, Rec/C
U11AA, U11A, Rec/C
U9
U7

The only way this would be subject to change is if the number of teams can't sustain the division. We also want to note that depending on tryouts/registration numbers and the number of teams created, players may be assigned to any level including C/Recreation Division. We also wanted to add we will provide/lend goalie gear for the U11 division for the season.

As you can see, C/Recreation Division is being offered again this year. C/Recreation Division this year will be an in-house program managed solely by Metro West Force. It will not be on a Provincial Loop.

For further details on the C/Recreation Division please click HERE

We feel it is important that everyone has all the information for them to consider and make the best decision they can make for their players for the upcoming season.

To that end, Registration for U13, U15 and U18 Competitive levels will close on the 10th. U11 will close on the 24th. C/Recreation, U9, and U7 Close October 8th. This will allow everyone to have the maximum amount of time to consider what is best for them.

Thanks

Mental Health Jumpstart Grant

We are excited to share that Metro West Force Female Hockey Association has been selected to receive a Community Development Grant from Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Sport Canada. With this support from Jumpstart and the Government of Canada, which through Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative has provided $6.8 million in funding to Jumpstart to support organized sport and to help community organizations kick start local organized sports that are accessible to all, we will be able to introduce Mental Health programming within our association.

This programming will include Mental Health First Aid sessions for Team Staff in age divisions U13-U18. These sessions will help equip our Team Staff with the knowledge needed to get members to be more open about what they are experiencing, and provide knowledge on how to handle a Mental Health crisis.

This programming will also include group sessions for our Players in age divisions U11-U18. These group sessions will help our Players develop competencies around managing their own Mental Wellness as well as supporting their teammates.

Along with Jumpstart, we understand the importance of sport for the health and well-being of kids and their families and are proud of the work we do to provide community sport and play. We further recognize the importance of Mental Health Awareness and look forward to delivering content that both supports Mental Health and further reduces the stigma that surrounds it.

MWF Registration for 2022-2023

*** UPDATE as of Aug 27th ***

Partial payments/installements are now available in GrayJay

***

Registration is now open.

PROGRAM ORGANIZATION:
We have two programs available: recreational and competitive.

The recreational program is a community-oriented program structured to provide development and competition at the recreational level while offering additional flexibility to families and athletes to participate in other sport or extracurricular commitments. In this program, the average week would have players on the ice with their teams for 1 game and 1 practice (travel for games/practices will be limited).

The competitive program teams will compete in a province wide loop, as such the travel and time commitment at this level are higher than those at the recreational level. The average week would have players on the ice with their teams for 3+ hours of game/practice time. NOTE: As part of their team budgets, individual teams may also decide to pick up additional ice time throughout the year.

Also included within the registration fees, additional development ice sessions will be available at all the above levels.

REGISTRATION CATEGORIES:
Registration is broken down into 2 categories for each age group:
- Competitive
- Recreational/C

Note: A final seasonal structure (AAA,AA,A,C/Rec) has not been finalized by Hockey Nova Scotia at this time. As soon as it is, we will notify our membership.
