Good evening eveyone - here is the update on the decision on C hockey coming out of the HNSFC meeting from the weekend.
HNSFC will run and operate 1 division at levels like our A (and B IN U11) divisions last year. These divisions will be made up of teams from across the province. Although this will run like A (and B in U11) - this will continue to be called C.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
1) all participants will be placed on teams at this level need to be prepared for committed to travel to local and road games
2) participants at this level may incur additional expenses (fundraising, extra ice, etc.) - traditionally these teams don't a don't do a lot of fundraising and the budgets are typically small, but I did want to mention that as a consideration.
3) we will commit to the additional practice ice (1 or 2 a week) and team will have 1 or 2 games a weekend.
4) Tournaments will be available at this level (Covid Permitting)
5) Additional Development offered through the MWF development program.
6) Additional Registration fees will be charged to offset ice costs
HNSFC will permit us, as an organization, to run a local, development focussed program as well. This will not be scheduled or managed as part of HNSFC, but we within MWF are committed to managing and offering this program.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
1) A local development program offering and focussing on skills, drills, having fun and learning hockey
2) 2 ice times a week
3) Additional Development sessions offered through the MWF development program.
4) Potential for athletes to be integrated on team as the season and the program evolves.
We (like you) want to get moving on these programs as soon as possible - I know everyone is super excited to get on the ice! Can I ask that you provide feedback through this google form HERE ASAP with your intentions and interest before Wednesday October 20th.
I want to thank everyone for their patience through this process. It has not been easy for any of us. We understand that this represents a change to the original proposal and intention of this C program: a change that some will appreciate, while others may not.
Given this new direction, we are doing whatever we can to provide the best possible outcomes and options to all our athletes to keep learning, developing and enjoying hockey. If neither of these options are of interest, we will reimburse any fees you have paid (in full).
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Andrew
