MWF Registration for 2022-2023

*** UPDATE as of Aug 27th ***

Partial payments/installements are now available in GrayJay

***

Registration is now open.

PROGRAM ORGANIZATION:
We have two programs available: recreational and competitive.

The recreational program is a community-oriented program structured to provide development and competition at the recreational level while offering additional flexibility to families and athletes to participate in other sport or extracurricular commitments. In this program, the average week would have players on the ice with their teams for 1 game and 1 practice (travel for games/practices will be limited).

The competitive program teams will compete in a province wide loop, as such the travel and time commitment at this level are higher than those at the recreational level. The average week would have players on the ice with their teams for 3+ hours of game/practice time. NOTE: As part of their team budgets, individual teams may also decide to pick up additional ice time throughout the year.

Also included within the registration fees, additional development ice sessions will be available at all the above levels.

REGISTRATION CATEGORIES:
Registration is broken down into 2 categories for each age group:
- Competitive
- Recreational/C

Note: A final seasonal structure (AAA,AA,A,C/Rec) has not been finalized by Hockey Nova Scotia at this time. As soon as it is, we will notify our membership.

Goalie Development

Have you ever thought about being a goalie?  Now is your chance to give it a try.  Hockey Nova Scotia is pleased to offer the following initiative for first-time goalies in the metro area:

For any Minor or Female players in U11 or higher who are considering playing the goalie position in the 2022-23 season, we are offering three FREE 1.5 hour goalie development sessions.  The first two sessions will be Sept 17 and Oct 22 at the BMO Centre in Bedford.  The third session will be early in 2023.  In collaboration with the associations, we will provide the goalie equipment for the first two sessions.  Players will be grouped in either U11/U13 or U15/U18.  In addition to the development sessions, any first-time goalies from these sessions who stay in the goalie position all season will have half their hockey registration reimbursed at the end of the season.  Attendance is limited to 20 players per session so get your name in early.

To summarize, for first-time goalies, on Sat, Sept 17 there will be a 90 min session for a U11/U13 group and a 90 min session for a U15/U18 group.  The same for Sat, Oct 22.  Gear can be provided if needed.  There will be one more session in early 2023 for each group.  All sessions are free and will be in Bedford at the BMO Centre.  Any players who attend the sessions and stay with the goalie position all season will be reimbursed half of their hockey registration.

Thank you.

AGM Update and New Board

Happy Sunday Everyone,

We wanted to provide an update post AGM as we know not everyone could attend.

The key points from the AGM were questions surrounding Diversity and Inclusion, Financials, as well as the parent and coach feedback survey.

At the AGM we could not introduce a new by-law based on the by-law requirements at that time. However, within the new structure it is a major part of our portfolio’s and is something that Metro West Force is committed to. Furthermore, we will be taking the points under advisement for future considerations in governance change. With the current board re-structure, we have 4/11 positions or 36% occupied by females.  When we elect our Athlete representative this will push this number to 5/11 or 45% of positions occupied by females. We still have a vacancy for Director of Membership Growth, and we are encouraging anyone who is interested to reach out to any board member. For further specifics on the role of Director of Membership Growth please contact a board member.

Financially, we had inquiries around a further breakdown of finances. Stay tuned for more information regarding this.

Also stay tuned for more information regarding the parent/coach feedback survey results.

As mentioned, new by-laws were implemented which resulted in a new Board structure. Elections were completed and a new board was formed. After the first board meeting, two other positions were filled.

A warm welcome to the following members:

President – Tim Sheppard (NEW)

VP Hockey Standards – Mike Almond (Returning)

VP Finance – Kelly Peck (NEW previously vacant position)

VP Hockey for Life – Greg Saunders (Returning)

VP Safe Sport – Warren Feltham (NEW)

Director of Coach Development – Amanda Boulegon (NEW)

Director of Administration – Marge Ancliffe (NEW)

Director of Hockey Operations – Peter Giles (Returning)

Director of Membership Experience – Genaya Cameron (NEW)

Director of Membership Growth – Vacant

Director of Athlete Representative – Vacant

For the board members that will not be returning, we have huge gratitude for all your contributions to Metro West Force.  Without your efforts we would not be where we are today.

Thank you everyone for your continued support.

Metro West Force Executive.
